Description
This Gutmann Eagle Scrimshaw lockback knife made in Seki, Japan circa 1990s-2000s by G. Sakai - one of the city's most respected knifemakers. It is a rare and discontinued item. As a factory second it has some issues, but is an overall sturdy knife. It features a cream resin handle with eagle scrimshaw on one side with stainless steel bolsters and a 440 Stainless blade with a solid lockup; original factory edge, sharp! It comes an Explorer box (although it is marked for a different model). G. Sakai has produced quality knives for many brands over the decades, including Al Mar, SOG, and Spyderco. For several years it made knives for Gerber, even changing its name to "Gerber Sakai" which was subsequently shortened to G. Sakai. The company now produces Spyderco's Japanese made knives which are known for their exceptional quality. This knife was recently found in the factory archives.
