Description
This is a vintage 10997 USMC fighting style knife made by Tak Fukuta circa 1970s and produced for Valor. It features a stacked leather handle with black finish on metal butt/guard and blade as well as handle (wearing off in places). The knife measures 12" long overall with a 7" long blade that measures just under 1/8" thick. Comes with original sheath in manufacturer's box. Please note this knife is sterile (no markings). We also have some with the "Japan" stamp in another listing. Tak Fukuta was the first Japanese member of the American Knife Maker's Guild, and apprentice to Bob Loveless. He hand crafted fine quality knives that impressed his mentor. Over the years, his factory in Seki, Japan also produced knives for Parker, Valor, Gutmann, Explorer, Frost, and Browning among others. After his passing, several vintage "old stock" models were found at his warehouse. This knife is one of these rare finds.
