Description
This is an original vintage Herbertz camo butterfly knife, made by Tak Fukuta circa 1980s in Seki, Japan for Herbertz. These were manufactured for the German market and are only branded Herbertz Rostfrei and not marked Japan. He made the same model for several companies and we also have two other identical versions with Japan tang stamps. The camo patterns are hand painted so we have pictured a few in the last photo to show some of the variations (each sale is for one knife, no box).
Tak Fukuta was the first Japanese member of the American Knife Maker's Guild, and apprentice to Bob Loveless. He hand crafted fine quality knives that impressed his mentor. Over the years, his factory in Seki, Japan also produced knives for Parker, Valor, Gutmann, Explorer, Frost, and Browning among others.
