Description
This is an excellent quality folder made by Tak Fukuta in Seki, Japan for Sarco/Edge Co. circa 1980s-90s. This is a manual action knife and requires the blade thumb stud to be rolled/pushed around to the locked open position. To unlock and close the blade, the same stud must be pushed forward and around. This is an innovative locking mechanism that has origins in Italy circa 1960s. It has a stainless steel blade and buffalo horn handle. Tak Fukuta was the first Japanese member of the American Knife Maker's Guild, and apprentice to Bob Loveless. He hand crafted fine quality knives that impressed his mentor. Over the years, his factory in Seki, Japan also produced knives for Parker, Valor, Gutmann, Explorer, Frost, and Browning among others. After his passing, several vintage old stock models were found at his warehouse. This knife is one of these rare finds. Stock photos.
