Description
This is a vintage Japanese crafted knife and hatchet combo made in Seki, Japan by Seizo Imai circa 1970s. This is a handmade factory sample prototype with the factory part number sticker on the bottom of the box. Imai also produced a very similar hatchet for Parker Brothers at the same time which had a slightly different locking system and we believe this to be a prototype for that produced version or perhaps one for K-Mart, the blades are unmarked. The lever on the bottom locks the blade in place. It is spring loaded to keep it secure. Seizo Imai was one Seki, Japan's finest craftsmen and most famous knifemakers of the modern era. His collaboration with Parker spanned nearly two decades. He made knives for Parker, Frost, Browning, Explorer, Compass, Condor, and many others, including his own brands Imax and Seizo Imai. His custom Loveless style knives are works of art. After his passing, several vintage old stock models were found at his warehouse. This is one of these rare finds.
