Description
This is a vintage Skachet and sheath made in Seki, Japan circa 1960s by Hasegawa for Gyrfalcon Inc of Camp Hill, PA. This one was left unfinished by the manufacturer, so the blade edge was never ground nor was the hook at the top edge. The edge below the hook is beveled, while the production version is straight, so this could have been a blemish or is a prototype like many other product we acquire from Japan. Overall length is 6.12" long, and 3.62" wide. A scarce vintage hatchet, these were originally made in the USA by Charter Arms and are very versatile. A wood stick/branch can be screwed into the hole to use as a hammer, axe, or hatchet. Comes with original leather sheath (needs snap repaired). Great for a collector of vintage axes, or finish grinding the blade and have a new one! Acquired from a closed distributor warehouse in Seki, Japan.
