This includes all parts except the guard to complete the stunning survival knife made in Seki, Japan by Seizo Imai circa 1980s-1990s. It is branded Imax, his own personal brand, which he reserved for the finest knives that he made. Back in the day, Imai made the best quality Japanese made Buckmaster style knives for Explorer and Parker. This one is no exception and is the only version that is mirror polished. It features a heavy 1/4" thick x 7.5" long mirror polished blade and measures 12.625" long overall when complete. Blade is believed to be AUS-8. (Last photo is for example only to show what completed original knife looked like - this kit is incomplete and does not come with the guard).

Assembly suggestions: This needs a guard; guard thickness can vary since the nut screws down to secure it. Pins would need to be threaded into new guard if they are to be used. The handle piece does need to be oriented properly; the side that has a flat area near edge of interior threads is for the butt cap end as pictured (notice interior threads go to edge on side of guard nut). Possible installation method: place blade in vice that protects blade from damage, place guard on blade, screw nut on and tighten against guard using pliers holding onto extended area meant for gripping (large flat area goes against guard), screw handle onto nut, then screw butt cap on. Blade will need to be sharpened.

Seizo Imai was one Seki, Japan's finest craftsmen and most famous knifemakers of the modern era. His collaboration with Parker spanned nearly two decades. He made knives for Parker, Frost, Browning, Explorer, Compass, Condor, and many others, including his own brands Imax and Seizo Imai. His custom Loveless style knives are works of art. After his passing, several vintage old stock models were found at his warehouse. This is one of these rare finds. Stock photos, all in similar condition.
