Description
This fighting knife blade blank kit was made by Tak Fukuta in Seki, Japan circa 1980s and is stamped "Rosftrei" for market in Germany. The blade itself (from guard stop to tip) measures 5.125" long and is made of 440 Stainless and is 3/16" thick. The guard needs filed/adjusted to fit the blade. Extended tang portion could be used or you could use a different handle design and make it a hidden tang by not using it. Tak Fukuta was the first Japanese member of the American Knife Maker's Guild, and apprentice to Bob Loveless. He hand crafted fine quality knives that impressed his mentor. Over the years, his factory in Seki, Japan also produced knives for Parker, Valor, Gutmann, Explorer, Frost, and Browning among others. After his passing, several vintage old stock models were found at his warehouse. This knife is one of these rare finds.
