Description
This is the Imax Emergency Escape E2 Tool made by Seizo Imai in Seki, Japan. Imax was Imai's personal brand which he reserved for his best production knives. It features a sturdy thermoplastic construction, much stronger than the cheap plastic Chinese versions out there, with dual pointed steel hardened to 58-60 Rockwell and a slipjoint 2-1/2" long serrated AUS-6 blade with blunt unsharpened tip to allow safe cutting of seat belt. Closed the the tool measures a compact 5-5/8" long, but flick or pull the hammer out and it extends to 8-1/2" long, allowing for more thrust and effective glass breaking. Imai patented this unique design in 1999 to market in Japan, primarily to Toyota. Seizo Imai was one Seki, Japan's finest craftsmen and most famous knifemakers of the modern era. After his passing, several new old stock models were found at his warehouse. This is one of these rare finds. Comes in the original box.
