In the Kamakura Period of Japan (1185-1333) were born the first swordsmiths of Seki, in present-day Gifu Prefecture.In a complete, unbroken line the tradition of artistry and excellence has imbued the region.The land is literally composed of everything needed for forging the finest metals – high availability if iron, charcoal and water, and it is uncertain whether the land has formed the people into innovative metalsmiths, or the people have tamed the land by their brilliant ingenuity.Truly, Seki is Japan’s capitol for knives, swords and fine metalwork.Seki holds a tradition of great advances in knife technology.

Within Seki’s borders, MCUSTA Knives was formed by these traditions, and continues to evolve in that same culture.What the collector finds unique in MCUSTA is the emphasis on tradition, while emulsifying it with custom, precision machine work.MCUSTA expert knifemakers make it apparent that not one of these fine traits must suffer when considering the purchase of a knife.
